After reading law in Belgium, Emmy obtained an LLM in International Maritime Law from Swansea University. She worked as a claims handler for two leading P&I Clubs for almost five years, dealing with a wide variety of P&I and FD&D matters, before joining BDM in May 2016. Emmy is involved in a wide variety of disputes, including disputes under charterparties, bills of lading, cargo claims and contracts of affreightments. Emmy has also advised on several incidents, including collisions and groundings. She has also advised on dangerous cargo cases and unsafe ports claims. Apart from contentious work, she assists in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating ship sale and purchase agreements, charterparties and sale of good contracts.
