Ben is a seasoned shipping, energy and insurance dispute resolution specialist. He is a Solicitor and Chartered Arbitrator and on the panel of arbitrators maintained by SCMA. Before joining BDM, he ran his own Legal 500 and Chambers ranked practice for 16 years and was a partner in a major international shipping firm.
He has conducted hundreds of arbitrations on behalf of stakeholders involved in the shipping business, representing owners, charterers, cargo interests and P&I/H&M insurers in LMAA, LCIA and ICC arbitrations. He is often instructed in relation to the dry aspects of casualties, including disputed claims for GA.
Ben has substantial experience in the Commercial Court including obtaining and defending freezing injunctions and handling challenges to Awards under the Arbitration Act 1996.
