Benita joined BDM as a Senior Associate in November 2019, having previously worked at a number of leading international maritime law practices. In May 2021, she was promoted to Managing Associate.
She specialises in shipping law, in particular contractual disputes arising under charterparties, bills of lading (including cargo claims), shipbuilding contracts, ship management agreements and ship sale MOAs. She has also had experience in international trade, marine insurance and offshore matters. She has acted for a variety of clients, including shipowners, ship operators, charterers, P&I Clubs, shipyards, insurers, brokers, EPC contractors, commodity traders, freight forwarders and oil companies.
Benita graduated with a degree in Classics from Trinity College, University of Cambridge. Born and bred in the United Kingdom, Benita speaks fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin. She has formerly worked in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
